About Valdosta Excavating

Local, and focused on ground work

Valdosta Excavating is a land clearing and excavation site serving Valdosta, Lowndes County and the surrounding South Georgia counties. The work is clearing, forestry mulching, grading and site preparation โ€” the ground stage of a project, before anything gets built on it.

Georgia treats this as regulated work: the Erosion and Sedimentation Act requires certification for land-disturbing activity, a land disturbance permit applies once a project reaches one acre, and a 25-foot buffer protects state waters. Ask any contractor you are considering to show their current Level 1A certification and insurance on the written proposal before work begins.

How the process works

A walkover of the parcel first, because density, stem size, terrain and access drive the real cost far more than acreage does. Then a written scope that states the clearing level for each area, the debris method as its own line, whether stumps and root mass are included, and what grading follows. Where a project reaches the one-acre threshold or approaches state waters, the permit and buffer position is settled in writing before machines move.
